Simple Math to Keep in Mind Before Going to a Casino

Everybody knows that casinos, online or brick or mortar, are after the player’s money. Everything – and I mean everything, has already been calculated and made so that the house has an advantage over the player. It is common knowledge that in the long term, the house always wins. Yes, you might win a couple of grand today, but in the long run, the house will get that all back and then some.

I won’t be talking about the complex calculations they use, nor will I be telling you how to turn the tables and win against the house. But I will be telling you about a few games and the advantage the house has.

Craps is probably the only place where luck truly rules, except for two wagers; the “Pass Line” wager where they have a 1.41% house advantage, not that bad, and the “Any Craps” wager where they have an 11.11% house advantage… I know, right!? While this doesn’t mean you can never win, it tips the scales in their favor, so unless you’re just trying to have a good time try to avoid that wager.

Probably the lowest house advantage in my research, at 0.46%, it’s still at their advantage. While you can probably use a different kind of math to tip the scales into your favor, I would not recommend you counting cards if you like your knee caps to be intact. (doesn’t happen as often as it used to but it still can)

Taking a smaller loss and giving yourself a chance for a comeback. Lookout for opportune moments to split, calculate the risk, and bet accordingly. This gives you more control compared to other casino games.

At an almost 6% house advantage in the overall game, it’s probably the highest tipped into their favor. The minimum bet for each number isn’t as big as the other games, though, so you can hedge as much as you can with a relatively lower bet.

The Most Important Math

I can go into detail on H.A.% and different strategies for each game. Still, if you wanted to do complicated math and probabilities, and had the ability to do that, you should try the financial markets.

You went to the casino to have fun, and sometimes the most simple and straight forward strategy is the best way to allow yourself to enjoy the game without overthinking it.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Come in with a set amount you are prepared to lose.
  2. Stick with minimum bets for the time being.
  3. Every time you win money, put half of your winnings in a different place.
  4. When those chips reach the amount you were willing to lose, cash it immediately. (DO NOT BUY MORE CHIPS)
  5. If you want to keep on profiting, repeat steps 1 to 4. Otherwise, proceed to step 6
  6. Stick to minimum bets until you double your money
  7. Bet as much as you want and enjoy your casino trip.
